Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [6] in all your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.

Good Morning:

When you read Proverbs 3:5-6, there is an implied if/then logic here. If you were to add two simple words in these two verses, it would read like this:

IF you trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, THEN He will make your paths straight.

What is if/then logic?

Hypotheses followed by a conclusion is called an If-then statement or a conditional statement. This is read – if p then q. A conditional statement is false if hypothesis is true and the conclusion is false. The example above would be false if it said “if you get good grades then you will not get into a good college”. [Source]

Conversely, with if/then logic you can assume the opposite be true, which would read like this:

IF you DO NOT trust in the Lord with all your heart and IF you DO lean on YOUR OWN understanding; in all your ways you DO NOT submit to Him; THEN He will NOT make your paths straight.

So here are the two equations:

Trusting in the Lord + Leaning on the Lord + Submitting to the Lord = Straight Paths

Trusting in the World + Trusting in Ourselves + Submitting to Lies of the Devil = Crooked Paths

Which path do you want? Straight or crooked?

Those who choose straight paths are then leaning on our Lord with all of their heart, with all of their soul, with all of their mind, and with all of their being. God has a specific plan for each and every one of us. It just take this simple act of obedience and yielding to His will for our paths to be straight, so that He can direct us.

Take the time today and every day to seek out the will of the Father for your life. Read His word and pray daily so that He will direct your paths to be straight into the narrow gate leading to His kingdom.

Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV
[13] “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. [14] Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

I love you and am praying for you today!
