Luke 22:20 NLT
[20] After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people-an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

Good Morning!
In the Old Testament, God made a covenant with men, giving them instructions through Moses what was needed to purify themselves from their sins through sacrificial atonement. This covenant laid the foundation of blood sacrifice so that men’s sins would be forgiven. This had to be performed by the priests of the day.

The prophet Jeremiah prophesied of a new covenant that God would make in the 600’s B.C…

Jeremiah 31:31 NLT
[31] “The day is coming,” says the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.

Fast forward to the New Testament, Luke’s Gospel tells us that Jesus made a new covenant between men and God. Jesus was the great high priest that made the final blood sacrifice of Himself once and for all so that there would need to be no more blood spill needed for men to receive God’s Grace and forgiveness.

Hebrews 9:15 NLT
[15] That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

Hebrews 7:22-25 NLT
[22] Because of this oath, Jesus is the one who guarantees this better covenant with God. [23] There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. [24] But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. [25] Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

God loves us so much that He created a way for us to obtain forgiveness. He first gave it to His people in the Old Testament as an example of what was to come. Then Jesus came down from heaven, walked among us, seen by thousands of people working miracles and hearing His words, made the final sacrifice of atonement for all of mankind so that we can inherit God’s kingdom. We are guaranteed salvation when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. We are guaranteed a place in Heaven to live forevermore.

Jesus was and is the only one that was truly righteous enough to take the sins of the world upon Himself. He now sits at the right hand of The Father and pleads our case continuously to make us the righteousness of God, even though we do not deserve it.

1 John 2:1-2 NLT
[1] My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. [2] He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins-and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

There is one true path to God’s kingdom and that is through the only mediator that purchased our freedom from death.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 NLT
[5] For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus. [6] He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

I love you and am praying for you today!
