Psalm 85:13 NKJV
[13] Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.

Good Morning!
As a child walks behind his or her parent, following in their footsteps to walk in safety, so God walks before us marking out where we should step to guide us through this life and all of its challenges.

As a child, most of us grew up just knowing the safety of our parents. They guided us as we learned to walk, worked our way through school, became teenagers and even into adulthood. As children, we ran to them when we got hurt for comfort, Neosporin and a band-aid. They were there for us and helped guide us and shape us into who we are today. God, in the same way, gives us a pathway to follow. His footsteps are ahead of us so that we should step into them and follow the path He has for us and when we fall, we can run to Him for our comfort.

Some children did not grow up in a home with a nurturing environment, so it is more difficult to relate to a Heavenly Father that loves us so much. But He does truly love us and care for us deeply. He wants what is best for us and gives us a heart of love, forgiveness, grace and peace upon our asking of Him into our lives. Life will overwhelm us and people disappoint us, but God is steadfast in His love and will lead us to a place of safety — the rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 61:2 NKJV
[2] From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

As we are human, there will be times in our lives when we tend to stray from the path that He has set before us. But God, being merciful and forgiving, enlarges the path under our feet, so that we do not slip. He helps us to have feet “like a deer” that are able to climb to higher places and get the perspective we need to see all around us and know the direction we should take.

Psalm 18:36 NKJV
[36] You enlarged my path under me, So my feet did not slip.

Psalm 18:33 NKJV
[33] He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places.

When we follow the footsteps that God puts before us, Psalms 37 tells us that God delights in us and our way.

Psalm 37:23 NKJV
[23] The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.

It is easy, yet so hard to do. The distractions of this world’s ways are easy to lead us off track. When we give way to our flesh, we begin to yearn for more power, more money, more of this and more of that. But at the end, all of these “things” are temporary and what is everlasting is what we pay forward into God’s kingdom. God delights in our way when we stay on the path that He has for us. As our feet follow in the footsteps that He has set before us, His plans will take shape in our lives. Worldly “stuff” becomes less important and treasures of heaven become more important. What is for sure is in the end, the Lord’s purpose will prevail!

Proverbs 19:21 NLT
[21] You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.

Matthew 6:20-21 NKJV
[20] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The steps that we take each day lead to the next, giving us a lifelong journey, step by step. Most of our journeys (including my own) contain many twists and turns as we make wrong turns and God lovingly brings us back on track. God is always merciful and directs our paths back to following in His footsteps where He will delight in our ways. Think of a GPS in your car. When you make a wrong turn, it will recalculate and get you back on track. God in the same way will “recalculate” our lives to get us back on His path.

I love you and am praying for you today!
Dad
