John 14:23 NKJV

[23] Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Good Morning!
They say that “home is where the heart is” but Jesus has a different view on home. He said that if we love Him and keep His word, He and The Father will make their home in us.

So how does that happen? Jesus promised us to send “another helper,” the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive — The Holy Spirit. This is our connection to God The Father and God The Son. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that lives in us and makes His home in us. Through this marvel, we have access to the very throne of God, to ask anything in Jesus’ name.

John 14:15-18 NKJV

[15] “If you love Me, keep My commandments. [16] And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- [17] the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. [18] I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:14 NKJV

[14] If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

So as followers of Christ, with the Holy Spirit indwelling within us, we are filled with His grace, peace, love, mercy and power. We also are given the gifts of the Spirit and our lives yield the fruit of the Spirit (lessons for another day). We are earthen vessels that carry this treasure within us. We know that our help comes from The Lord, the maker of heaven and earth, yet He chooses to live within us.

2 Corinthians 4:7 NKJV

[7] But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

Psalm 121:2 NKJV

[2] My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

When God makes His home in us, He makes us His “dwelling place.” I like The Passion Translation of this verse (below). God indwells Himself into our lives as a permanent resident.

John 14:23 TPT

[23] Jesus replied, “Loving me empowers you to obey my word. And my Father will love you so deeply that we will come to you and make you our dwelling place.

Thinking about this is really mind-blowing. 🤯 The God and Creator of the universe and ALL things, makes His dwelling place in us. That should make us really think about the way we treat our “earthen vessels.” Knowing that that God lives in us should give us caution in our choices, to obey His Word, to do His will and to live for Him with all of our being, as He lives in us, for us and shows Himself true in every aspect of His word.

God considers us of very high value and worth and chooses to indwell within us. The entire Bible is written to redeem us and lead us into Salvation. The very Words of God are written on every page. The Bible has been passed down for generation upon generation and even though many attempts have been made to destroy it, it has survived and even thrived as the most read book in all of History. Our very souls rely on the scriptures to give us the instruction needed to be good “earthen vessels.”

2 Timothy 3:15-17 NLT

[15] You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. [16] All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. [17] God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

I love you and am praying for you today!
